Iron Dome Mezuzah – Large, 8 in – Made from an Intercepted Missile

Above the communities of southern Israel, an interceptor meets a rocket in the air and both come apart. What falls afterwards is ordinary metal — pale, light, non-magnetic aluminium alloy — and it lands in the same fields where we live.

This mezuzah case is made from that metal. Where we live the Iron Dome is not an abstraction. It is the sound that sends us to the shelter, and the reason we walk back out. Fixing a piece of it to a doorway feels like the right place for it to end up.
