The Wood of Hope Mezuzah – Two-Tone Wood with Silver Flame

On October 7th, 2023, fire tore through the groves and gardens of the Gaza envelope. When it was over the trees were still standing, blackened and hollow.

The artist Zeev Engel takes that wood and makes mezuzahs from it — a limited edition series called The Wood of Hope. Each case is cut in the shape of the map of Israel and keeps the grain and the marks of the tree it came from. Nothing is added, and nothing is covered over.

Hope can be made out of the darkest material available. Anyone can carry that message by hanging one on their door.
